ArbitrationIn Arabic: التحكيم
Definition
An agreement by the parties to refer an existing or future dispute to an arbitral tribunal, which decides it by a binding award instead of the courts. Each GCC state has its own arbitration law or regulation, alongside arbitration centres in financial centres that apply their own rules.
How it varies across the GCC
Each state has its own arbitration law; common-law centres exist (DIFC/ADGM/QFC-type).
The rules that apply to a specific matter depend on the state, any free zone involved and the current text of the law, so check the official source before relying on them.
