Off-plan saleIn Arabic: البيع على الخارطة

Definition

The sale of property units in a project whose construction is not yet complete, on the basis of the approved plans. Several GCC laws require the developer to pay buyers' instalments into an escrow account and to obtain a licence for the project in advance.

How it varies across the GCC

Escrow-account rules are local.

The rules that apply to a specific matter depend on the state, any free zone involved and the current text of the law, so check the official source before relying on them.
