Order for paymentIn Arabic: أمر الأداء
Promissory note, bill of exchange and chequeDefinition
An order for payment is a court order that requires the debtor to pay a sum of money that is proved in writing and already due. It is issued on a petition, without the ordinary course of a claim.
How it varies across the GCC
In the UAE it is preceded by a demand to pay, and it is issued within three business days of the petition, under Federal Decree-Law No. 42 of 2022. The text of that rule was verified. Its article numbers were not, so none are cited. The corresponding Saudi route through enforceable instruments was not verified for this page.
The rules that apply to a specific matter depend on the state, any free zone involved and the current text of the law, so check the official source before relying on them.
